This photo of the star fish and window shutter has many horizontal leading lines. You can follow these lines to the focal point of the starfish. The contrast between black and white also shows positive space (the white start fish), and negative space (the gray/black background). Texture is also visible in the peeling of the paint. I chose this picture because of its simplicity.
The "Sad Swing" is the focus of this picture. The angle this picture was taken leads your eyes through the photo with the swings moving through the scene. There's also a sense of depth involved. The swings follow the rule of thirds. Sand creates texture below the swings, and repetition is found in the chains that the swings hang from. A fast shutter speed was used as there is no movement blur in the swings. I chose this photo because it evokes a feeling of childhood being left behind.
